The Aboriginal Medical Services Alliance Northern Territory (AMSANT) is the peak body for Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services (ACCHSs) in the Northern Territory. Based in Darwin, AMSANT advocates for Aboriginal health equity and supports the delivery of high-quality, culturally appropriate primary health care services across remote and urban communities. With over two decades of experience, AMSANT plays a vital leadership role in policy development, capacity building, workforce support, and sector coordination. About the Opportunity

AMSANT is looking for a full-time Finance Manager based in Darwin, NT. Reporting to the Deputy Chief Executive Officer, the Finance Manager will lead AMSANT’s financial strategy, ensuring transparency, compliance, and clarity for the organisation, funding bodies, and the board.

More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Leading AMSANT’s financial planning and reporting functions
  • Supporting managers in preparing and maintaining project budgets
  • Preparing monthly financial reports and presenting to the board and FRAC
  • Managing audits, cash flow forecasts, term deposit investments and reconciliations
  • Maintaining a funding compliance register and statutory financial obligations (GST, BAS, FBT)
  • Supervising a small finance team and providing cross-organisational financial support
  • Collaborating with the CEO/DCEO to advise on strategic financial decisions
  • Ensuring AMSANT’s financial procedures and policies meet best practice standards

About You

To qualify, you will need tertiary qualifications in Accounting and be a member of CPA Australia or Chartered Accountants ANZ. A minimum of 4 years' experience in a senior finance role, including people leadership and financial reporting, is essential.

The following experience and skills will be highly regarded:

  • Prior experience in not-for-profit or community-controlled organisations
  • Proven ability to interpret complex funding arrangements and adapt to changing budgets
  • Strong working knowledge of GST, FBT, MYOB, and Calxa
  • Confidence in presenting financial information to senior stakeholders and boards
  • Capacity to work collaboratively across departments with an approachable leadership style

You’ll also bring:

  • Excellent attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to translate financial reports into plain language for non-financial stakeholders
  • Strategic mindset, coupled with the ability to manage competing financial priorities
  • Confidence and diplomacy when advising executive leaders and board members
  • Willingness to work in the office full-time and occasionally travel to Alice Springs
  • Resilience in fast-paced and shifting environments, particularly when dealing with delayed or unplanned funding
